Here is a look at the Non-Gated communities of Ponte Vedra. Please click here for the locator map to identify where the following communities are located. All-in-all there are 31 Non-Gated communities listed here. However, there is a whole new Ponte Vedra, and that is the town of NOCATEE* (14) which will be discussed in another blog. Nocatee has both gated and non-gated communities including an “over 55” community called Riverwood by Del Webb. Building continues in this new community with 6 subdivisions within. It is a very exciting area and if you can’t wait go to nocatee.com for more information.
The following information is based on the NE Florida MLS system and while considered reliable it may not have all data available and does not necessarily reflect new construction or new listings. I am attempting to provide you with information based on price points that fit into your budget if you are considering a move to or within Ponte Vedra.
For each community I have given the range of current home prices (in the thousands) based on what is currently active for sale and sold in 2009. You will also get an idea of how old/young the community is from the average year built.
Call me or email me and I will send you a list of homes in the community that interests you most. I look forward to hearing from you. Email me at kathleen@kathfloryan.com or call me at 904-687-5146 with any questions you may have. I guarantee a prompt response.

When people think about Florida, they think about GATORs, both the football kind and the live creature. And while there is the Alligator Farm in St Augustine, and the wonderful Jacksonville Zoo to visit while living in Ponte Vedra Beach, another less known and unique animal place exists called the St. Augustine Wild Reserve. Hardly anyone I speak to knows that it exists and they are shocked to hear about it. Now this organization needs a little word of mouth to help with their mission. I first heard about the Wild Reserve at my St Augustine Rotary Club meeting. Anyone can become a volunteer, supporter or sponsor of the Wild Reserve.
longer able to care for the animals. The goal of the Wild Reserve is a worthy cause. They are taking any opportunity to educate the public about exotic animal ownership and try to prevent future animal abuse. You can call them for a presentation at your school, church, or professional group. I am encouraging you to go to their website for pictures and details about how you can help support the Wild Reserve and check out their “Wish List” –

If you have not already heard about Nocatee, situated in St. Johns County just 8 miles west of Ponte Vedra Beach and the intracoastal, you will be hearing about it soon. Unfortunately, the town of Nocatee’s beginnings were also the beginnings of the drop in the housing market. As the worst of that is behind us, Nocatee should start blooming. As you drive down the streets in Nocatee, you can’t help to notice the magnificent landscaping. One of Disney World’s landscapers had their hand in this outstanding design. It is a well planned community that will have a population of 30,000 when all is said and done. Several different neighborhoods and home builders make up the town. They have condos, Riverwood, an over-55 community, first time homes in Austin Park and Willow Cove and estate homes in Coastal Oaks. There is something for everyone. You may reach your neighbors by bike or golf cart. As of today about 1200
people reside in this green, friendly town where there are miles of nature trails that can be used for walking, riding bikes and equestrian. There are many neighborhood parks including one for our 4 legged friends. It is a nature friendly community where you will see wildlife the way Florida used to be.
the largest one in northeast Florida, is slated to be open in late 2009 with other essential lifestyle stores. A farmer’s market is held in the Nocatee Park every third Saturday of the month where 80 vendors display and sell their fresh vegetables, plants, honey, flowers, food, etc. Nocatee has had antique car shows and family movies nights. It is a lifestyle community where families can play, shop and eventually work in their neighborhood. For more information about all the communities in Nocatee, call me at 904-422-1098 or email me at
from a nursery; it is a tree that appears in our natural habitat. One day they have healthy green leaves and the next they are wilting and turning the rusty color and dropping their leaves. Nothing can help these native trees. The beetle has won over them.
People from all over the world, in all stages of life, have chosen a home in The Plantation. There are over 100 children attending Ponte Vedra’s “A-Rated” schools or private schools that live in The Plantation. There’s even a private post office for this community which is a perk that can not be found in any other place on the beach. Recently driving through The Plantation, I couldn’t help but notice that the golf course looked so lush and green. The 6,900 yard, Arnold Palmer Signature championship golf course is private. Only you, your neighbors and friends get to play on this course. It is not open to resort guests like other area courses. There are 58 bunkers and water on 16 out of 18 holes. Many of the homes were built so as to feature the water and golf views. “I have been coming to the Ponte Vedra area for years, and have traveled all over, and when I found The Plantation I found my new home. I just love it here. I especially appreciate the rules because it keeps the place looking pristine and not run down. I come to relax and read my paper here at the beach club every morning” said a local resident. The Plantation’s private gated Beach Club is right on 400 feet of ocean edge. A quick bike ride from the front gate or quick drive to the private parking area will get you there. A junior Olympic-size pool awaits you. You can bring and prepare your own food using the grills provided, have a catered party, or enjoy the restaurant when it is open. There is 24 hour manned security and they perform additional complimentary services including three time a day check on your home if you are away which gives a great sense of relief for many homeowners.
